Australian Open: Third round updates

The Australian Open has already reached its third round and the action is intense. There’s still time for you to open a betting account through the most trusted broker for Asian bookmakers and join the fun!

Let’s take a look at what happened in the previous round:

Muguruza and Arruabarrena are out of the tournament

Garbiñe Muguruza was the third favorite to win the tournament. Yet, and to prove that anything can happen, she was disqualified by the Taiwanese Su-Wei Hsieh after a hard fought first set that needed more than an hour and a “tie breaker” to be decided and a second set where she surrendered rather easily. The final result of 7-6, 6-4 without winning a set was a surprise on its own right. Su-Wei Hsieh will now face A. Radwanska from Poland, number 26 in the rankings who eliminated Lesia Tsurenko from Ukraine in a 3-set match.

The other Spaniard Lara Arruabarrena could not do better in Australia than what she did in 2015 and 2016. She was eliminated in the second round by the Czech Barbora Strycova (number 20 in the favorites) in straight sets 6-3 and 6-4. Arruabarrena could not defend against the effective service and the greater strength of her opponent and even though she managed to break her opponent’s serve once in the second set, it was too little too late to change things around. Strycova will play in the third round against the American Bernarda Pera, who defeated Johanna Konta (ninth favorite for the tournament) from Britain in straight sets, 6-4 and 7-5.

With two of the top 20 favorites to win the tournament eliminated the betting chances increase exponentially for you in the women’s tournament. Don’t stay out of it! Albert Ramos goes to the third round after eliminating Tim Smyczek

The 21st favorite Albert Ramos advanced to the third round after defeating the American Tim Smyczek in 3 straight sets (6-4, 6-2 and 7-6). It was all a matter of an effective first serve and a dominating performance from the back of the court for the Spaniard. Getting through to the third round is the best result Ramos has to present in his history in a Grand Slam tournament.

However, we can’t help but feel that it will also be his last appearance as he will come against the winner of the match between Novak Djokovic and Gael Monfils. If what Djokovic did in the first round is any indication, in all likelihood, neither Monfils nor Ramos could present a serious obstacle. The Serbian may be only the 14th favorite, but the performances we’ve seen so far give him hope for a return to the top.
