Who are the top four?
They finished on top of the ladder in 2016 and despite injuries and the absence of luck, they were still within one point of a grand final lead with just seven minutes left to play. The Swans potentially have a revitalized Sam Reid, and at last some decent ground-level goal kicking support from Tom Papley.
GWS (Greater Western Sydney)
In the bottom half of the AFL in terms of their age average, GWS now boasts the fourth most experienced squad in average games per player.
Luke Beveridge’s coaching performance last year may well go down as close to the best of all time considering the injuries suffered along the way. Regardless, they should be better now. Western Bulldogs boasts an All-Australian key forward in Travis Cloke, keen to prove a sizeable addition to Collingwood.
West Coast Eagles
They won nine out of 10 games in the lead-up. The Eagles‘ greatest weakness has been their midfield depth. And they have done a lot to remedy the situation with the enlistment of Sam Mitchell, aimed to take an enormous load off Matt Priddis and Luke Shuey particularly.
