The last Grand Prix of the season is scheduled for Sunday 26 November 2017 and we are very much interested to see who will cross the finishing line at this special occasion first!
Abu Dhabi was included in the Formula 1 calendar in 2009 for the first time and since then it has been firmly established as the final race of the season every November, making it the greatest international event in the United Arab Emirates.
Yas Marina is one of the few circuits to run in an anti-clockwise direction and it is the only one providing an underground pit lane. Before the race starts, floodlights are switched on to ensure a seamless transition from daylight to darkness. The track is 5.554 km long and it will be lapped 55 times. The lap record is held by Sebastian Vettel from 2009 at 1:40.279.

Review of the season
For the first 7 races it looked like we would have a fierce competition to the very end as, after quite a while, there was no constructor with a clear advantage over the others. Ferrari managed to present a reliable car quite comparable to those of Mercedes, while Red Bull maintained its high level. 3 wins for Vettel and another 3 for Hamilton with an intermission by Valtteri Bottas had set the stage and we were all eager for what was coming up.
Azerbaijan however became the turning point. Ferrari did not manage to avoid mistakes, bad luck and bad driving (especially by Kimi Raikkonen), Vettel was forced to withdraw from races, leaving Hamilton to claim the victory at 6 out of the next 10 Grand Prix, while Sebastian managed to win only in Hungary. That was the end of it. The race in Mexico finalized the title for Lewis Hamilton despite finishing 9th, because Vettel did not manage to enter the first two positions and finished fourth.
Still, it was refreshing for the sport to see other cars than Mercedes racing for the victory. And it looks like it’s going to be even better next season as McLaren has resolved its contract with Honda and will get new power units and hopefully they will return to being a top notch constructor, while Renault seems to have gone over some reliability issues and will provide better engines to the constructors that use them.
Heading to the upcoming event, Hamilton and Vettel have won three times each. However, it is Hamilton the pilot that crossed the line first in 2 out of the last 3 races. It is a matter of pride for Vettel to win and show that the season could have gone better for him. Hamilton on the other hand wants to end the season in the most spectacular fashion.
