Mauricio Pochettino to take over Chelsea
The Stamford Bridge Blues have hired, and fired, a long list of managers, and have spent a great deal of money, to form a competitive team for the Premier League and the European competitions. The latest name in that list, Graham Potter, got his marching orders and got replaced by Frank Lampard as an interim coach until the end of the season. According to the Telephraph, the club is now in the final stages of negotiations with the previously successful at the Premier League Mauricio Pochettino, to take over the reins. Initially, this is a piece of good news for both the fans, and the best Asian and European bookmakers, as, if the effort bears fruit, then the balance of power will shift.
After the Spurs
During the time that the Argentine spent as manager of Tottenham, he transformed the club from a mediocre side to one that managed to reach the final of the Champions League in 2019. He then took over PSG only to be fired last July for reasons that had nothing to do with his success with the team. He remained without a team since then, and the word is that he is reaching an agreement with Chelsea.
From the few details that have seen the light of day on the issue, it will not just be the manager that will move to Stamford Bridge. He will also be able to have his own stuff. Jesus Perez, Miguel D’ Agostino and Tony Jimenez have been with Pochettino since he was the coach of Espagnol, along with Pochettino’s son Sebastiano who has served as scientific advisor during the tenures in Tottenham and PSG.
Not a patient team
Perhaps, the problem is not the manager. Chelsea have been accused repeatedly of not allowing them to show what they are capable of, because of a demand for immediate success. So, the question becomes, whether the administrators will allow the Argentine to form the team from scratch, plant his philosophy and claim success over time, as all major clubs do. The recipe was successful when he worked with the Spurs. But it was not a success that came overnight.
Pochettino seems like a very good choice for Chelsea. Assuming that he will enjoy the same standards as in the past, it will result in a much more competitive Premiership and that is good news for everyone that will register for a betting account with broker.
