Introduction
Living Goods is an organization that aims to save lives en mass by implementing technological developments in support of health workers, along with cooperating with governments and individuals to maximize performance and deliver high quality services in the most cost effective manner. Funding comes in part from donations from anyone who wants to do their part in such an undertaking. If you like to make a donation and save lives yourself, you can do so directly at your convenience.
The primary focus is providing aid to mothers and children to reduce child mortality rates and make sure that women give birth in safety and under medical care. The areas of primary concern are Kenya and Uganda, however, there is also a global component active in Burkina Faso, Sierra Leone, Myanmar and Zambia,
Modus operandi
It all depends on the service delivery through a single, fully integrated and highly efficient platform. Trained personnel goes door to door to deliver quality health care using the latest in technology to provide aid, advice and products.
Apart from the digital assistance, the organization implements detailed operational management, innovative funding and, at the end of the day, a full account of the actions taken in the field.
A very important part of this effort is the implementation of a smartphone application that assists in diagnoses and keeps track of pregnancies, children disease progress, nutritional issues and other aspects vital to obtaining the goals at hand.
Accomplishments
Here are some of the more notable accomplishments of Living Goods:
- Reduction of mortality in Uganda for children under 5 by a massive 27%
- Reduction of stunting by 7%.
- Almost 400,000 children in Kenya under 5 years of age were medically examined. 155,000 of them were treated.
- 6.2 million people reached in Uganda, 1.9 million children screened and 715,000 treated.
Conclusion
To sum up, the numbers are great, but they are just numbers. The more important issue to consider is the concept of assisting people. Since they are in dire need of almost everything. Food, water, basic amenities, pharmaceuticals. In the end it does not matter how many people one helps. It only matters that they helped.
