SOS Children’s Villages Review
Introduction
The people behind SOS children’s Villages International, decided to launch this program to help the weakest part of humanity: the children. Their aim is to provide a home and a family for each child, do whatever possible to make sure that their rights are respected and enforced, support them in case of an emergency and strengthen the bonds that keep families together and strong.
The main effort is aimed to the children that can no longer stay with their birth parents for whatever reason. They need all the help that they can get, including yours. So if you want to donate or become a sponsor, you can contact the organization directly and do so.
The Principals
The people that decide to provide their services to this program, strongly believe in the following guidelines:
- Every child that can no longer enjoy living with their biological parents, must receive the proper alternative care.
- Children must always feel protected, loved and safe.
- Any form of neglect, abuse, violation, exploitation, or disregard for their rights must not be tolerated.
- Proper education and training must be available at all times.
- A normal living environment must be available at all times.
Creating the appropriate environment
After 70 years the program now counts 118 village associactions in 136 countries all accross the globe. They have created:
- 559 villages
- 713 programs
- 452 schools and other centers
- 159 social centers
- 59 medical centers
All of the above are possible through cooperation with the relevant governmental agencies, institutes for the protection of families and children, and any other establishment that shares common goals.
Conclusion
Hermann Gmeiner begun this program in Tyrol, Austria, for the children that suffered from the aftermath of World War II. His vision gained support and donors, as it was both righteous and worthy. An entire structure formed with the same goals. Goals that can be yours as well.
