Let’s travel to East Ayrshire, Scotland and the Pàirc Rugbaidh (Gaelic for Rugby Park), where there will be a most interesting confrontation between the hosts Kilmarnock and Dundee FC for the Scottish Premiership on Nov 30 at 15:00 GMT. A match no so much about the top of the table, or securing a European tournaments’ spot, as much as it is about staying above the relegation zone. For both sides.
It’s been a disastrous season for both
Both clubs have played 12 matches and they are at 8th and 7th position on the table respectively. They have identical overall records at 3 wins, 3 draws and 6 losses. 15-25 and 18-24 are the goals scored–conceded, while both sides have 2 of their 3 victories and 3 of their defeats in the last 5 games. They both have 12 points to show for their efforts, while the gap to the top is more than double their accumulation.
Ostensibly, they are not in immediate danger. However, they both are only 2 points above the relegation zone at an equal footing with Ross County (also at 12 points) and just 4 points away from Hibernian (last on 8 points). Another similarity comes with the teams that they have to face this weekend. Kilmarnock travel to St. Johnstone (third to last on the table with 10 points), while Dundee play hosts to Hibernian. Both matches are crucial. If they emerge victorious then they have some breathing space. If not, then their situation when they fight each other will be even more dire in comparison with those 3 teams. Second to last Hearts (9 points) will probably lose both upcoming matches and will not play any major role in this context.
Good odds for all outcomes on Kilmarnock vs Dundee FC
The home field advantage is quite clear. @2.00 for a win of the hosts, @3.60 for the visitors. The price of @3.50 for the draw, indicates that it is also a quite possible result. However, it is one that will hurt them both. Especially if the results of this weekend are not favorable for them. All of their main rivals (St. Johnstone, Ross County, Hearts and Hibernian) will also most likely lose their matches against the Rangers, Celtic, Aberdeen and Motherwell respectively, keeping them all boiling in the same cauldron.
In a week we will get back to this confrontation having the results of the matches in between and any other changes that may have occurred (injuries, sent-offs, etc…). Those will help us get the most out of this one.
Update
A lot has changed since we began the conversation about this confrontation. Now, the visitors are at 7th and the hosts at 10th place after the results of the matches of the previous weekend. Dundee FC rampaged over Hibernian by an impressive 4-1 victory, while Kilmarnock lost at St. Johnstone by 1-0. Which makes it imperative for the home team to win this one if they want to cover the 3-point deficit.
No change in the odds for Kilmarnock vs Dundee FC
The hosts still get a @2.060 payout, while the visitors are at @3.605. A very interesting market is the over/under 2.5 goals. 3 goals will pay at @1.960, while 2 goals will do so at @1.990. Considering how difficult it is for the home team to either score or concede, it’s rather difficult to see how there can be more than 2 goals scored on this one. All other markets that would stand a logical chance of coming to pass, just do not pay well enough to be chosen. A -0.5 handicap for Kilmarnock only pays at @2.075.
Coming down to the bottom line of it, we believe that one way or the other Kilmarnock will win at home. So we will go with that suggestion and you will need to go open an account at the best betting platform to follow our advice and make some money.
