Summary of Tipster's comments

To the Riot Games Arena in Berlin, we go for a clash of two giants of the world of League of Legends. On January 26 at 18:30 GMT, Fnatic (or FNC) play against G2 Esports. The first thing to consider is that we have two teams that count 7 LEC titles under their belts each. The second, is that it is a classic UK – Germany clash. The third, is the superiority of G2 in the head-to-head encounters.

Let’s meet FNC

Fnatic is based in the United Kingdom. However, after the changes in the roster of November 2024, no British players are included in the lineup:

  • Top Laner – Óscar Muñoz Jiménez (ESP) – Oscarinin
  • Jungler – Iván Martín Díaz (ESP) – Razork
  • Mid Laner – Marek Brázda (CZE) – Humanoid
  • Bot Laner – Elias Lipp (GER) – Upset
  • Support – Mihael Mehle (SLO) – Mikyx

3 runners-up (LEC Season Finals, LEC Summer Playoffs, LEC Spring Playoffs) and 1 title (LEC Spring) with a total of $227.500 in prize money, comprise their achievements for 2024.

Red Bull’s team

You guessed it right! Red Bull is the main sponsor of this Germany-based team. However, it could be argued that this is actually a Mediterranean Sea team:

  • Top Laner – Sergen Çelik (GER) – BrokenBlade
  • Jungler – Rudy Semaan (FRA) – SkewMond
  • Mid Laner – Rasmus Borregaard Winther (DEN) – Caps
  • Bot Laner – Steven Liv (FRA) – Hans Sama
  • Support – Labros Papoutsakis (GRE) – Labrov

5 titles in 2024 alone (LEC Season Finals, LEC Summer Playoffs, LEC Spring Playoffs, LEC Winter Playoffs, LEC Winter) and total gains of $388,750 in prize money, says the record.

One of these two will probably win the title

In 2024 the two sides met a total of 9 times. G2 Esports won 7 of them. The last one in September by 3-1. FNC’s last win dates back to July with 3-2. On this score, the record is clear. G2 esports have established a psychological advantage over their opponents.

At this time, we have odds of @1.99 vs @1.88 for the two sides respectively. However, things will probably change when the results of the first matches of the round robin stage of the tournament come in.

Update

Since we first spoke about this confrontation:

  • Fnatic lost to KOI (0-1), defeated Team Vitality (1-0) and Team Heretics (1-0)
  • G2 lost to Karmine Sports (0-1), lost to BDS (0-1) and won over SK Gaming (1-0)
  • It would seem that S2 is not at the top of their game on this tournament. This is why the recent prices of @2.29 for FNC, @1.63 for G2, do not make sense. Apparently, the bookmakers think that they have enough experience and expertise to draw on, in order to make it through. We do not believe so.

    Critical matches in-between

Before they sit in front of their gaming computers to face each other, Fnatic will have to play against Rogue, and G2 against Team Vitality. Both opponents having the same record as G2. 1 victory and 2 defeats. Therefore, they are more or less boiling at the same kettle. And they all need to win badly. However, the way the competition progresses it would be rather difficult to catch up to GiantX and Karmine Corp now at the top of the table. As aforementioned, we do not agree with the assessment in favor of G2 Sports. Yes, they may be playing with their backs to the wall on this one. However, they are not even close to the performances we expected them to have. Therefore, we will suggest the win for FNC for the next wager of those who open an account at the best betting platform.
