Time to go to China today for the last gameday of Week 2 of League of Legend’s LPL Split 2. Two Chinese teams will compete for either a spot at the playoffs bracket stage or the play in stage. Either of those will get them a chance to qualify for split 3 of the competition and perhaps the end products of the Mid-Season Invitational and the Esports World Cup of 2025. The match is scheduled to begin at 11:00 GMT.
Who is who
Let’s begin with the introductions. Those experienced in LoL tournaments surely remember the Rogue Warriors. Anyone’s Legend is a rebranding of the team. Their current roster includes:
- Top Laner – Li «Flandre» XuanJun
- Jungler – Lee «Tarzan» Seung Yong
- Mid Laner – Cui «Shanks» XiaoJun
- Bot Laner – Wang «Hope» Jie
- Support – Kim «Kael» Jin Hong
Since the rebranding they have managed a 2nd place at the Split 1 playoffs, and 2 first places at Group A of Split 1 and the Demacia Cup of 2024. Total prize money won: 200,000 Yuan (25,000 Euros). It should come as no surprise that there are 2 Koreans in the team. It is well-known that Korea is the best talent producer globally.
Weibo Gaming is a new team in the field created in 2021. Unlike their opponents, the roster includes only Chinese players:
- Top Laner – Chen «Breathe» Chen
- Jungler – Gao «Tian» Tianliang
- Mid Laner – Li «Xiaohu» Yuanhao
- Bot Laner – Wang «Light» Guangyu
- Support – Fu «Hang» Minghang
Their best results are three 2nd places in Group B of Split 1, the Regional Finals of LPL 2024 and the Summer Playoffs of the same year. They have collected 1,000,000 Yuan (124,000 Euros) and 180,000 US dollars in prize money.
A match of equals
While some of the players are quite experienced, these are two fairly new teams having been finalized just last year. So far this year they both have the same record: 5 wins and 1 loss. Before this encounter they have met 10 times and the score is 6-4 in favor of Weibo Gaming. The previous game for the Demacia Cup was won by Anyone’s Legend by 3-1.
Based on all of the above it should not be a surprise that right now we have @2.80 for AL and @2.81 for WG. It would be interesting to see if there will be any handicaps offered for this one as it is expected to be quite tight.
Update
The results of the first week of Split 2 for both sides were the same. 5 wins and 1 loss. However, after the first matches of week 2, they are now almost with their backs to the wall. They both played against Top Esports and they both lost 2-1. Now they find themselves 6th and 8th on the ranking, way behind the five teams that have scored at least 1 win in the tournament.
They have no choice but to win
Top Espots and Bilibili Gaming have already recorded 2 victories each. JD Gaming, Invictus Gaming and ThunderTalk Gaming, have 1 each. Things are quite simple. AL face Invictus and WG go against ThunderTalk. They either win or say goodbye. Even if they do, the key match will be the one that the two face each other. If it was just a must before, it has now become a «do or die».
The fact that the odds for Anyone’s Legend have dropped like a rock to @1.56 over the original @2.80, we will insist on our consideration on the history between the two which is dominated by Weibo. The price has dropped for them too (@2.33 over @2.81), but we will suggest a wager on the victory of Weibo Gaming. Since we have kept our part of the equation and supplied you with our insights, it’s your turn to keep the deal and open an account at the best betting platform.
