Head-to-Head
Since 2021, John Maduka and Barker’s men have had five encounters. The first h2h was in January and ended in a 1-1 tie. The second, April 24, 2021, ended in another 1-1 draw after a Mendieta equalizing goal ended a 70′ goalless Stellenbosch struggle. The third time they met was in November, of the same year. This time, the Royals put up a strong performance which overpowered Steve Barker’s side with a 1-0 win.

Over the Week, Royal AM dropped from the 10th position to 11 after suffering a 3-1 defeat from the Marumo Gallants FC on the 5th of April. It was their first match since March 14 when they also got crushed by Sundowns with a 5-1 score. Before these two events, Royal was undefeated in their last 3 games where they recorded two wins and a draw. In total, they were able to score 8 goals while conceding 11.
On the side of Stellenbosch, they equally lost their last match, the very first after seven consecutive undefeated encounters. It was against Kaizer Chiefs (2-1). Prior to this, they had won three of their last four matches with one draw. Their combined goals for these five matches are 12 against 6 conceded They are now in the 8th position, despite the recent defeat.
Generally, Stellenbosch appear to be in better form than the Royals. They score better than their rivals and have been quite tough against stronger more powerful teams in the league than Royal AM. Yet, having lost two consecutive games, coupled with their recent h2h records against Stellenbosch, we can expect a very intense match here with no less than 2.5 goals in total.
