What to bet on at the 2023 Women's World Cup?

Betting on women’s football may offer fewer options than for men, but the possibilities should still be great for this event.

You can first bet on the favorite for the Women’s World Cup. For this bet, the USA, unsurprisingly, are once again the overwhelming favorites, where they are the most successful team (4 titles). The bookmakers make no mistake: the Americans have the lowest odds on the market in July 2023. If they win, it would be the first time a football team has won the World Cup three times in a row. The squad is very strong, especially offensively, with experienced stars Alex Morgan and Megan Rapinoe.

However, the big offensive star is now young Sophia Smith (Portland Thorns FC), voted NWSL MVP. The talented striker is in fine form, scoring a hat-trick at the end of June against Washington (4-2). She became the youngest NWSL player to reach the 30-goal mark in a single season. The big absentee is former OL player Catarina Macario, who is still recovering from her cruciate ligament injury.

On the other hand, England, Spain, and Germany are other contenders and favorites to win the 2023 title. Les Bleues are also expecting a great improvement with the arrival on the bench of their new coach Hervé Renard.

In addition to predicting future World Cup champions, online sports betting sites allow you to bet on the group stage of the competition. Whether the teams finish first or qualify for the Round of 16, the choice is yours!

GROUP A

  • New Zealand
  • Norway
  • Switzerland
  • Philippines

On paper, Norway were the most eagerly awaited team in Pool A. Although the team led by Hege Riise exited at the group stage of the last Euro played in England, they had nevertheless reached the quarter-finals of the last World Cup in France and presented more guarantees than their first-round opponents. Unfortunately, the pitch revealed otherwise, as they are currently bottom of the group with 1 draw and 1 defeat. Switzerland took first place, followed by New Zealand and the Philippines.

GROUP B

  • Australia
  • Canada
  • Ireland
  • Nigeria

Australia are the undisputed favorites to qualify from Group B. Ranked among the top 6 teams most likely to win the title, Tony Gustavsson’s team is playing at home and boasts some top-class players.

Four of these are Samantha Kerr (Chelsea), Caitlin Foord (Arsenal), Lydia Williams (ex-PSG), and Tameka Yallop (Brann), representing some of the best players in the world, who will take the host team through to the first round. Canada, runners-up at the last World Cup, are also expected to reach the Round of 16.

GROUP C

  • Spain
  • Japan
  • Costa Rica
  • Zambia

Japan and Spain are the two teams you should consider when making your predictions for Group C of the Women’s World Cup. Zambia will be making their first appearance at a World Cup finals, while Costa Rica failed to qualify for the last edition played in France, but the Spanish and Japanese nations have plenty to offer, and this should be reflected in the final standings of this third group.

GROUP D

  • England
  • China
  • Denmark
  • Haiti

For Group D of the Women’s World Cup, England are the strong favorites. European champions on home soil in 2022, Rachel Daly (Aston Villa) and Beth Mead (Arsenal) are expected to go a long way in the competition and are among the strong outsiders for the final title. Behind them, Denmark and China will no doubt be battling it out for the second qualifying ticket.

GROUP E

  • United States
  • Netherlands
  • Vietnam
  • Portugal

With Portugal qualifying from the play-offs at the last minute and Vietnam making their first World Cup finals, the USA and the Netherlands should have no trouble in qualifying for the rest of the tournament.

Reigning World Champions and runners-up respectively, the USA and the Netherlands are the winning duo in our Group E prediction. Team USA, the favorite for every match and every bet every four years, is one step ahead.

GROUP F

  • France
  • Brazil
  • Jamaica
  • Panama

Brazil’s legendary Marta, still going strong despite her advanced age, is the favorite to reach the Round of 16 and the knockout phase. The other two opponents in the group, Jamaica and Panama, appear to be well below the French and Brazilian standards. The French have had their ups and downs in recent months, notably leading to the ousting of Corinne Diacre, but they should be able to take one of the top two places in their group.

GROUP G

  • Sweden
  • Italy
  • Argentina
  • South Africa

The Women’s World Cup 2023’s Group G is more challenging than the previous two, but Sweden and Italy should be able to hold their own when it comes to qualifying for the second round. South Africa, who were beaten three times in as many matches in their first campaign in 2019, remain too soft to achieve the feat this year. As for Argentina, their record as one of the world’s top nations is far from perfect, and they have been disappointing in each of their previous appearances.

GROUP H

  • Germany
  • South Korea
  • Colombia
  • Morocco

Germany is the team to bet on in Group H. They are considered one of the favorites for the world title, having reached the quarter-finals of the 2019 World Cup and the final of Euro 2022. Colombia and South Korea will battle it out for second place in this group phase.

How to bet on the Women's Football World Cup

  • Follow the matches and the news: you can, of course, follow tipsters (beware of scams), but the best way is to make up your own mind, and to do that you need to follow the matches to analyze the teams. Before you place a bet, make sure you’ve checked to see if there are any major absentees (injuries, suspensions).
  • Also, consider the stakes for the last match of the group phase. If a team has already qualified, there’s a good chance they’ll be able to turn the tables.
  • Compare odds: register for a betting account with broker to access the best bookmakers to compare odds and win as much money as possible.

Now you have everything you need to place your bets for this great world competition. Time to play!
